S.T.E.M Classroom, Dumfries House
“The Morphy Richards Centre for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics provides experiential learning for Primary and early secondary based around four core and supported STEM programmes. Working in partnership with Selex-ES, Scottish Power and UTAS-UTC the programmes are designed to support schools across Ayrshire and further afield in the delivering of STEM based activities.” Extract from Dumfries House website.
Brought in to create bespoke furniture for this project, we were also responsible for the classroom design. Discussions based around the 5 elements (air, water, earth, fire & aether) and their associated symbols & colours helped pull the design together. Below are some of the presentation visuals for this project.
“This new build facility will provide young people aged 5-14 with an experiential learning experience based around four core and supported engineering programmes chosen by Education and Industry. These programmes are focused on curriculum development and provide the link from subject learning in science, technology, engineering and mathematics to future career paths in engineering. The programmes will support Primary school teaching staff through Continued Lifelong Professional Learning opportunities (CLPL) and provide experiential engineering activities for young people to interact with both on site at Dumfries House as well as back in the classroom.” Extract from Dumfries House website.
